Join Stoel Rives partner Beth S. Ginsberg (moderator) and Of Counsel Erin Anderson for Environmental Law Institute’s webinar Environmental Review of Large Infrastructure Projects (ELI Skills Seminar) on October 27, 2014, from noon to 2:00 p.m. Eastern. CLE credits are available.

This past May, the President described permitting and review of large infrastructure projects as the “cornerstone of America’s efforts to protect the environment and harmonize its economic and environmental aspirations.” In practice, the review of these large projects is extremely complex and highly contentious. The issues facing environmental attorneys engaged in advising clients advocating for new infrastructure or, on the flip side, opposing a particular project, require intensive planning, cut across disciplines, and require navigating public relations as much as government requirements.

This online skills workshop seeks to provide clarity for environmental professionals on best practices for the environmental review of large infrastructure projects. Experts in the field will answer questions such as “What do environmental attorneys need to know about the review process for large infrastructure projects?” “What statutes must an attorney address so that she/he can be the best advocate possible?” and “What are some of the public relations pressures that attorneys must manage for their clients?”

After this workshop, participants will understand the role of the attorney, the environmental consultant, and the public relations professional in the review of large infrastructure projects.

Skills You Will Learn

  • How to determine which environmental statutes (NEPA, CWA, CAA, ESA) come into play when reviewing a large infrastructure project
  • How to determine your role in the overall review process (whether you are private sector or public sector)
  • How to effectively communicate with public relations firms and environmental consultants
  • When mitigation strategies work to your client’s advantage
  • How to decipher permitting requirements for large infrastructure projects

This session’s faculty have decades of experience in the review of large infrastructure projects and they will be sure to bring their unique perspectives to the discussion.

Registration deadline is October 23. Click here for more information and to register.
